A Binocular Headband Magnifier
If you are over 40, like I am, you have probably noticed that small
parts seem to keep getting smaller and harder to see.
Don't let your vision keep you from enjoying your work. The OptiVISOR
is the fountain-of-youth for your eyes; it lets you see the small things just as
you did as a teenager. optovisor optevisor optavisor
I tried some low cost imports and found them uncomfortable. The cheap plastic
lenses scratched easily and were ruined with just a single drop of solvent.
The OptiVISOR has true optical glass lenses that resist scratching and
solvents ( Be aware that there are people selling a different version of the optivisor with cheap plastic lenses as optivisors - you get what you pay for). The OptiVISOR has made my work enjoyable again
(I do surface mount circuit-board work these days.) They can be worn over
your regular glasses. I liked them so well we decided to offer them to our customers. The DA-5 (the 5 stands for 5 Dioptre
magnification) is what we
recommend for general soldering work.
Other powers
(2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10) are available from stock.
Young eyes, with their more
flexible lenses, can accommodate
differences in distance better than older eyes. The loss of
flexibility is
called presbyopia* and
is shared by everyone as we age past
40. As
we age, the lens of our eyes harden and we lose our accommodation,
the
ability to change our focus for close objects. Most people notice this
condition
in their mid-forties. Presbyopia gradually becomes more pronounced as
we age, until about the age of 65 when we usually have lost all our ability to
accommodate. The OptiVISOR optovisor is
an accessibility aid wore by professionals in many fields including
doctors, jewelers and biologists who need the very best in vision.
* presbyopia - has an interesting word etymology. Presby
comes from the same word root as Presbyterian, and means elder
as in church elder. Opia is a Greek root and refers to the eye. As we
become older (as in elder) we find that our eye lenses have less flexibility. OptiVISOR the most comfortable and highest quality available
- Binocular design reduces eyestrain and allows three-dimensional vision.
- Optical Glass Prismatic Lenses Ground and polished to precision optical standards.
- It Tilts - Adjustable pivots allow the visor to be tilted out of the way when not needed
- Made completely in the USA
- Adjustable headband - conforms to fit all head sizes
- Genuine leather comfort band padded with orthopedic felt adds
comfort for long hours at the bench
- Work hands free - and watch the solder flow again!
- The hood keeps light from reflecting off the back of the lenses, thus increasing the contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is the difference between the brightest and darkest point in an image. Better contrast ratio lets you see details you would miss otherwise.
LT-06
Option The distance in focus also depends on the amount of illumination - the brighter the field, the more your iris will constrict providing a
greater depth of focus. The depth of field is the minimum to maximum distance in
focus.
- To add brightness try the LT-06 light
- Xenon light beam
- 6000 Candle Power
- 5 - 6 hour battery life
- Mounts on head band
- Lamp turns for on/off control
With optional Optiloupe for extra close inspection
The OptiLOUPE LP-1 attachment multiplies the magnification by 2 1/2 times. and we also stock the replacement lens plates (LP-X)
One local dentist is using the DA-2 for fitting crowns
Picking the right Power
The best method of picking the correct power is to look at the distance listed. For example if you would need to hold the item about 8 inches away to see the entire object and be close enough to see the details you would pick a DA-5 whic has a 8" distance listed. You can always call us and ask which one makes sense for a particular job.
Good for finding nits (cooties) and lice.
